Jack Rudy has been in business since in October of 2010. Before that, Brooks Reitz (the creator of Jack Rudy) had been making the Tonic syrup at restaurants he was managing - first in Kentucky, and then in Charleston, SC. When customers began to respond so favorably to the product, he considered the likelihood of someone liking it enough to actually buy it for their home bar or restaurant. With little to no money, he began producing the tonic at home, and started shopping it around to area restaurants and retail stores. Locally he had some success, and a little bit of buzz. Fortunately, the release was timed closely to the Charleston Wine & Food Festival, and he was able to introduce the product to a variety of tastemakers, press and beverage personalities. The response was overwhelming.
